Editorial Standards

Last reviewed:

Business Magazine 24 (BM24) is an independent business news publication founded in 2018 and headquartered in Grand Cayman. These standards apply to every story we publish, regardless of section, byline or commercial relationship.

1. Independence

Editorial decisions are made by editors. Commercial staff have no influence over which stories we cover, how we cover them, or how they are presented. Sponsored content is clearly labelled and visually distinguished from editorial. We do not allow advertisers to review or approve editorial content about them or their competitors.

2. Sourcing

  • Primary sources first. We prioritise official filings, court records, regulatory disclosures, on-the-record interviews and direct observation over second-hand reports.
  • Two-source rule. Significant factual claims that are not on the public record are verified with at least two independent sources before publication.
  • Anonymous sourcing is a last resort. We use it only where information is materially in the public interest and could not reasonably be obtained on the record. The editor reviewing the story sees the identity of any anonymous source.
  • AI tools. We use AI tools to support research, transcription and copy-editing. We do not publish AI-generated text without a named human author taking full editorial responsibility for the resulting story.

3. Verification and fact-checking

Every story is reviewed by a named senior editor before publication. For investigations and long-form pieces, a second editor checks each fact against its underlying source. All quotations are checked against the recording or transcript. Numbers, names, dates and titles are verified directly with the issuing organisation.

4. Right of reply

We give individuals and organisations named in critical coverage a reasonable opportunity to respond before publication. The deadline varies with the urgency of the story, but is never less than the time strictly required by the subject to provide an informed response. We publish responses fairly.

5. Conflicts of interest

Reporters and editors must disclose any personal, family or financial interest in a story before they accept the assignment. Where a conflict cannot be removed, the story is assigned to a different writer. We maintain an internal register of holdings, gifts and paid speaking engagements that is available for inspection by the Editor-in-Chief.

6. Plagiarism and attribution

We attribute every fact, finding or quotation that is not the result of our own reporting. We do not republish other outlets' work without permission. Plagiarism is grounds for immediate termination of any editorial relationship.

7. Corrections

See our full corrections policy. Material errors are corrected promptly, with a dated correction note appended to the affected article. For significant corrections we add a link from our homepage and the relevant category page for at least 24 hours.

8. Complaints and contact

For editorial complaints, email [email protected]. Our full editorial contact and mailing address is listed on our contact page.
